Physical and Real-world Identification using cidaas:
cidaas helps you enhance personalized interactions and embrace every potential business opportunity by linking the digital and real-world identities of potential customers. Enterprises can now send business-related messages, promotional content and notifications to registered customers, as and when they enter the defined monitoring areas around the business facilities. This feature is facilitated by the following:
1 . Images captured by installed IP cameras
2 . Signals received and transmitted by Beacons
2. Real Word Identification using Beacons:
When a customer travels in the vicinity of a business facility, installed beacons can sense and capture the presence of Bluetooth enabled smartphones of potential customers within the defined radius or geo-fence, based on already stored device details of the customer. Once such a customer is identified, the information is passed on to cidaas which in turn triggers customized notifications to the customer. The notifications could include messages on special offers or newly arrived products or any other information as per requirement.
What are Beacons?
Bluetooth beacons are hardware transmitters - a class of Bluetooth low energy (LE) devices that broadcast their identifier to nearby portable electronic devices. The technology enables smartphones, tablets and other devices to perform actions when in close proximity to a beacon. This could be leveraged to enable a location-based action on the device such as sending of push notifications.
Apps could be configured to trigger messages based on set rules as and when information is received from the beacons. For example, a rule could be set in such a way that a message is triggered when the customer has been within the beacon’s range for more than 5 seconds.
What is Geofencing?
A geo-fence is a virtual perimeter for a real-world geographic area. A geo-fence could be dynamically generated—as in a radius around a point location, or a geo-fence can be a predefined set of boundaries (such as school zones or neighborhood boundaries).
The use of a geo-fence is called geofencing, and one example of usage is to send location-based notifications to those who enter or exit a particular area demarcated using Geo-fences. Geofencing is a popular method used by marketers to attract probable customers into business stores.
Geofencing based notification could be performed in the following ways:
1) Static: This is based on the position of a mobile user with respect to a fixed area. For example, the messages that are sent to opt-in users when they enter a retail store.
2) Dynamic: This is based on the position of a mobile user with respect to a changing data stream. For example, the “open parking space” notification that is sent to mobile app users who happen to be driving nearby

The differences between using Geo-fences and Beacons are described in the figure below:
Real Word Identification using cidaas:
Cidaas leverages the advantages of both Geofencing and Beacons to help you effectively interact with your customers based on their locations.
To enable location-based messaging using cidaas, login to the cidaas Admin Portal and navigate to Access Control section of the portal and follow the steps mentioned below:
Manage Location
The location of a business facility has to be configured by Administrators in order to detect the movement of potential customers (having configured mobile devices) across defined boundaries around the business location.
Steps to configure your business location:
Go to cidaas Admin portal and navigate to Access Control -> Manage Location

Click on “Add New Location” button seen on the top right corner of the page. The page to enter location details will be displayed.
Enter details in the fields as below:
Location Name: Enter the name of your business location
Description: Provide a brief description of your business
Address: Enter the address of your Business facility here.

Upon clicking on ‘->’ (right) arrow, the location-tracking icon points to the location on the map corresponding to the address mentioned on the left. -’<>
Radius: Administrators can define the radius around the Business facility within which customers are to be detected and accordingly notified. The radius could be defined from 1 to 1000 meters, which would mean that customers could be detected up to a range of 1km from the business location – The same is highlighted in a grey colored circle in the map seen on the right. (refer to Fig.1)

Longitude and Latitude: If you know the longitude and latitude details of your Business location, the same could be directly specified in the corresponding fields. If you are not aware of the details, make the Location-tracking icon point to the exact location of your business – The corresponding longitude and latitude values would be automatically fetched from the map and updated in the respective fields on the left
Meta Data: Additional details related to the Business facility could be specified in the fields corresponding to “meta-data”. [e.g., Land Mark : Opposite Child Hospital]
Once location details are configured, click on the Save button.
A success message is displayed stating that the location details are saved, and the user is taken to the page having the list of all the saved locations. In case, any of the location details have to be edited, the edit icon seen corresponding to the location can be clicked.

Learn how to manage users and their corresponding groups here
The eame of the Group and corresponding to the customers could be mentioned here. Note that any number of saved groups could be associated to the same location.
At any given point in time, a particular saved location can be deleted using the “Delete Location” option seen on the location details page.
Manage Device
Beacons, that are used to broadcast identifiers and traigger actions on beacon-enabled Apps on mobile devices can be configured here.
Steps to configure devices:
Go to cidaas Admin Dashboard and navigate to Access Control -> Manage Devices
Click Add New Device on the top right corner of the page.
Enter the following details:
Device Name: Enter the name of thedevice ex: UFO Mall Device
Description: Provide a brief description of the device
Type: Select the type of device to be configured

1 . Camera 2 . Beacons
Now select Beacon from the drop down.
Enter the UUID of the device.
UUID: The purpose of the proximity UUID is to distinguish beacons in your network from all other beacons in networks outside your control. When you receive your beacons, they will all have a common proximity UUID set, which will look something like: h7826da6-4fa2-4e98-8024-bc5b71e0893g
Major and Minor:
Major values are intended to identify and distinguish a group of devices—for example all beacons on a certain floor or room in your venue could be assigned a unique Major value.
Minor values are intended to identify and distinguish an individual device—for example distinguishing specific beacons within a group of beacons assigned a Major value.
Meta Data: Any additional information about the device could be specified in the ‘Meta Data’ field.
Click save button. A success message is displayed stating that the device details are saved.
The user is taken to the screen that displays the list of saved devices as shown below:
At any given point in time, in order to edit the details of any if the saved devices, the user can click on the Edit icon seen corresponding to the saved device.
Upon clicking on the edit icon, the screen to edit the device details is displayed. In addition, at the bottom of the screen, a “Device Heatmap” is displayed. This section shows the number of customers who have been detected at the various distances from the device during the day.

Device Group Map
Like how a location could be mapped to defined groups of users, devices could be mapped to locations. In order to map devices to locations, Go to cidaas Admin Dashboard and navigate to Access Control -> Device Group Map.
Steps to map device group:
Click on Add New Device Button on the top right corner as shown below:
Select the configured location that is to be mapped to the device.
Now select the Groups corresponding to the location

Select the Device to be mapped from the Device dropdown as shown below:
After selecting all the required details, click on “Save” button.

User Report
Administrator can get the who are all using your business location those users’ location reports are search by location id and name, email.
Device Report
The list of users who are detected using the configured devices can be obtained using the “Device report” option. A search can be performed on the reports using Location ID, Name and Email.
The Device Report also lists all the configured Beacons with a corresponding Heatmap that depicts the number of users who were detected at the various distances from the location of the beacons. The distances in the Heatmap are represented by color codes as defined below:
0 to 10 meters
11 to 20 meters
21 to 30 meters
30 to 40 meters
40 meters and above
